Dr. Dwight Pryor will conduct an in-depth Bible study from a Hebraic point of view. These lectures will carry on the tradition of his popular Friday night Bible studies years ago.
These First Saturday Lectures will are free and open to the public. They are hosted locally by Church of the Messiah, which meets at Liberty Worship Center, 1180 Upper Bellbrook Road, Xenia 45385.
The meetings will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the sounding of the shofar, the singing of the Shema, and Dr. Pryor's one-hour lecture. Following a brief break, the public will be invited to remain if they wish for a special Hebraic Heritage Celebration Service by the COM community, including singing, dance, and banners.
This new First Saturday Lecture series will kick off with an examination of the subject: REASSESSING THE DOCTRINE OF ORIGINAL SIN AND ITS RAMIFICATIONS. Judaism and Christianity have long been at odds over this foundational dogma originated by Augustine, the father of Roman Catholic and Protestant theology. Dwight will take a fresh look at the biblical text and bring some clarity to this controversial subject as well as examine its profound implications for our view of God, man, and salvation.
